P1040794Welcome to the Ballymena Floral Art Group Website. For those of you unfamiliar with Ballymena, it is a thriving commercial town situated in the middle of picturesque County Antrim in the heart of Northern Ireland.

Ballymena Floral Art Group is one of 23 Clubs in Northern Ireland which fall under the auspices of The Northern Ireland Group of Flower Arrangement  Societies (NIGFAS). NIGFAS currently has a membership of 1,000+ and is affiliated to The National Association of Flower Arrangement  Societies (NAFAS), a registered charity with over 65,000 members.

Our calendar of events commences in September each year and continues with monthly meetings until May when we break up for the summer recess followed by a ‘day trip’  during the month of June for those who wish to participate.  Our monthly meetings are generally held in West Church Hall (19 Ballymoney Rd, Ballymena BT43 5BS) but special events are held in one of the local hotels. For full details of each event (including venue), please visit our Facebook page.

We try to provide members and visitors with as varied a programme as possible. Our monthly meetings can take the format of a talk, demonstration, workshop where members participate,  or other form of appropriate entertainment.

If an Area or National Demonstrator is on the bill, he/she will usually produce a number of floral art displays which will be raffled before the end of the evening.

Members also have the opportunity to enter a monthly competition; points are awarded at three levels – Novice, Intermediate and Open.  At the end of the year, the overall winners in these classes are awarded The Elizabeth McLeister Vase, The Mavis Speers Trophy and The May Matthews Salver respectively.  In addition, the person who submits the most entries at Flower Shows and NIGFAS events over the year is awarded The Sadie Lorimer Shield.  Two further trophies (The Coral Trophy and The Ann Sambrook Trophy) are awarded at the Judge’s discretion following club competitions held twice a year.

The meetings are brought to a close with tea/coffee and a biscuit and of course no evening would be complete without a little chat amongst ourselves.

We hope you will enjoy browsing through the information contained in this web site and that it will give you some insight into what happens within our club.

Photos of demonstrations and winning competition entries will be posted on our Facebook page, so please “like” us and leave a comment!
